Magic In The Sunshine State

Buckle your seatbelt and get ready to rumble guys, because away from bright lights and skyscrapers, we are spiralling down to Florida now, specifically known as the sunshine state! This is again, going to be an extremely long post, and even as I type, I have to wonder why I am bothering to write a warning when you all know.

You all know… 😛

A few things you should know before tales of mayhem in humidity begin:

  1. This is where I lose my luggage. For the entirety of my time in (mainly) Orlando I am without my luggage. Believe you me, once I have finished all my flights, I am going to publish a scathing blog post that’s itching to jump out of drafts right now!
  2. This post is 5 days worth of adventuring and fooding all neatly tucked away into one post, so stressing again, if you don’t have time, then don’t sit down. No one likes a cliff hanger 😛
  3. This will be the last adventure I have in the United States with a university friend before my exchange began (yes, I know, I’m still harking on about August, so time I stopped that right?) 🙂

Allons-y!

The Concrete Jungle Part III

So this is FINALLY the last New York post I have to share with you lovely people – of course, that is before I go AGAIN at Thanksgiving – don’t know if I mentioned that but I basically have stars in my eyes thinking of watching the house-sized balloons being paraded around the city so I will keep mentioning it – I AM SO EXCITED 😀

Since this is the final pre-exchange NYC post though, I have a few warnings for you. Not on purpose, but it seems that somehow, I have left a massive amount of food porn for the final post. I kid you not, there will be a ridiculously large number of food photos in this post.

So grab that popcorn/spaghetti/both and settle down for this movie length post because yes, it is going to be long. Very long. (Was it just me or did you also get a ‘Bond. James Bond’ vibe from that last line?)

The Concrete Jungle Part II

Even if Jesus was coming, I wouldn’t have to ‘look’ busy. I am busy. So busy that suddenly it’s been over 2 weeks and I realised that I haven’t written a blog post because I haven’t had the time.

Where is the time flying, and most importantly WHY is it flying!? Slow down! I was talking to one of my American friends and she thinks this term is going snail’s pace – give me snail’s pace so I have time to see more of everything!

And then you have those snarky ‘whole year exchange kids’ with there ‘I’ll do it in the Spring’ quote … ugh… my distaste for them is obviously not driven by jealousy 😉

Well, today in a snatched bit of spare time before dinner, I thought I would write up about the second part of NYC, since you all loved the first part so much + because I want to 😉

My Visit to the Concrete Jungle Part I

*Image taken by WC* – Don’t our faces say it all? From left to right, there’s me, AC, NS (taking the photo), WC and a very happy RC!!!

********************

I have been a bit more absent than I would like and considering I still have a load of posts to still write about my month-long travels before I even begin on my time in Boston, I am ridiculously behind schedule. But I won’t apologise because honestly guys, for the first time, it feels like I am living life as opposed to coasting through it.

I don’t want to get too ‘personal diary stuff like’ with you, but you know when you are living the way you are expected to? You are expected to go to high school, then go to university doing a degree that is expected to eventually get you a job and then once you are stable, you are expected to have morphed into a fully fledged, tax paying adult who has memories of parties and friends but really just a normal life?

I’m Singing In Niagara Falls

You know, because singing in the rain is just SO cliché and overdone 😉
I’d rather be dancing barefoot on a boat going through the thick, dewy water-fog of Niagara Falls any day!

But I wasn’t. Instead, I was wearing a poncho. An ugly blue poncho which was keeping the water off of me and preventing me from the gorgeous mermaid feeling that comes with embracing the water! On receiving it, I may or may not have loudly exclaimed ‘How do you put on this rubbish bag!?’, which got a bit of a chuckle from a lady near me but I knew she agreed.

I knew it.

Part II: I Was In Canada, eh?

Hello again! I haven’t been wiped off the face of the blogging earth but I may as well have been considering I don’t have free time now. Free time is for chumps, I refuse to give my body a rest till I get home because I only have 5 months.

Wait no, make that only have 3 and a 1/2 months. What. The. Hell. *Crying here*

So yes, I am either studying (jokes, what a poor excuse to use that word) or I’m going out, roughly on a ratio of 15-85% at the moment. I usually exaggerate as you know, but today, that is just not the case.

My life is pretty damn fantastic at the moment 😛

In the spirit of not working and snatching a few moments to relax in the beautiful library here at Boston College, I have decided to finally finish up Canada. And maybe even sneak in a little draft of Niagara Fa- OOPS… spoilers 😉

Part I: I Was In Canada, eh?

Ok so I am sitting here, finally typing, and totally overwhelmed by you America. I’ve just finished my university college orientation, and I’ve been living in Boston for over a week now. Damn Boston, you’re turning my head. All the new people, the culture, the ghosts, mate I think you’re stealing my heart a little 😉

You are also scaring the piss out of me because I have to be all independent and stuff. Excuse my language please.

But I can’t really start on Boston yet. Or Miami. Or NYC. Or Niagara Falls. Because I haven’t even told you about my adventures in Canada, eh? And the stereotype is true – a LOT of Canadians put ‘eh’ in wherever, whenever 😛

So I invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy my non-stop commentary (of what I can remember) of my time  in Toronto. It’s only been a few weeks but it feels like a lifetime already!

Guest Post: Aloo Matar

Despite having not been around that often, I haven’t forgotten about all the blogging friends I have made over the past three years (crazy right!?) One of the amazing people I have been lucky enough to know is Minnie over from The Lady 8 Home. This blogger is basically a superwoman, she literally has it all under control 🙂

Not only that though, she cooks like a pro, I mean look at this Aloo Matar (literal translation from my mad Hindi skills: Potato Pea Curry).

I know majority of you know of her awesomeness already but for those who don’t, you are about to be blown away by a scrumptious recipe made by a fabulous blogger – enjoy mes cheris!

California, Girl It’s Unforgettable

HIIIIIIIIIII! I’m sitting in Pearson Airport (Toronto, for those not quite so seasoned a traveller as I *cue to roll your eyes*) ready to share the first leg of my journey with you. I hit the place where the beaches are hot, the bays are cooler and the fun just doesn’t stop under a burning dessert sun. Oops, desert, wow, projecting my desire for sugar ammirite?

Also I had to pun up my title (for those who don’t know, though I don’t how you can’t know, it is a reference to one of Katy Perry’s catchier tunes, ‘California Gurls’.

My Big News

So I guess this was a long time coming, am I right?

For once, I am totally not going to beat around the bush, so guys… this is why I’ve been so busy…

I’M GOING TO LIVE IN BOSTON FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR!!!

It’s been my dream LITERALLY since year 8 to go on exchange, and for the past year, I’ve been planning it through my university’s exchange program. I was planning a year but a whole semester of travelling, meeting people and getting a full American college life experience? I am totally fine with that!
